ESF is hosting a special kayak tour of the Elkhorn Slough this June. You’ll have a chance to see sea otters, seals, sea lions, pelicans and more as you glide through the slough’s calm waters. Tides will be gentle—this is a voyage suitable for beginners, but with enough to see to engage old pros.
Please register on or before May 28.
You have the option of renting a kayak OR bringing your own.

Otter 501 tells the story of how a rescued sea otter pup came to live in Elkhorn Slough. The film opens this weekend in locations across the country, and the movie’s beautiful setting and wonderful story makes it a must see. And your Elkhorn Slough Foundation membership can save you a few dollars on your ticket.

Recently Keith Ellenbogen, a marine photographer and videographer visited the Elkhorn Slough as part of his work with Conservation International’s Ocean Health Index project.
The goal of the CI Ocean Health Index is to create a measuring stick – a new world standard – to show whether the efforts to improve the ocean governance and health are successful. Several of the individuals involved in this project – including ESF’s own Board of Directors Chair, Steve Webster, contribute to the Global Explorers Blog. Keith has posted some amazing photos from his recent trip here on this site.
Here's a run down of some new info we've added to our site recently.
Explore miles of trails that meander through wetlands, oaks and grasslands of the Elkhorn Slough.
